Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid or Starboy has taken the definition of the word super star a notch higher.
Wizkid is on an international wavelength at the moment as his ripples continues to spread on a global scale.
The Nigerian pop superstar fondly called Starboy has been recently honoured in Minnesota, United States.
A special day was marked out by Governor Mark Dayton of Minnesota to honour Wizkid and his contribution to music. The Governor declared October 6 as WIZKID DAY.
This honour comes in following some of the artiste’s achievement as a pioneer. Some including working with Drake on ‘One Dance’, selling out the O2 Arena London and also becoming the first African artiste to sell out Skyway Theatre, Minneapolis.
African and World entertainment record was broken when the State of Minnesota declared a proclamation dedicating one day in the year to celebrate Nigerian Superstar Wizkid.
According to the proclamation October 6th of every year will now be known as a state holiday called Wizkid day to celebrate the Nigerian born pop star.
According to the sealed and stamped document, the reason for this huge landmark is to honour the singer for his numerous achievements in music and for his role as a culture influencer. Some of his achievements, include recently becoming the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre Minneapolis, making a Billboard number one hit ‘One Dance’ with Drake, selling out the O2 Arena London, walking the runway with Dolce and Gabbana, winning international awards, and many more.
The proclamation also stated that Wizkid achieved international recognition in 2016 following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, One Dance thereby becoming the first indigenous Nigerian musician to score a number one hit on the popular US Singles chart.
The proclamation further stated that on the 6th of October which will henceforth be known as Wizkid day, thousands of Minnesotans will converge on Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis to see Wizkid perform.

The document stated further that this will help the pop star make history as the first African artiste to sell out the venue.
It then concluded saying Wizkid had inspired Minnesotans and music fans around the world as one of he biggest cultural influencers of our time.
