Last night's 'South Park' episode set up the new 'Fractured But Whole' game

What's This?

Wednesday night's episode of South Park acted as prequel to the upcoming game South Park: The Fractured But Whole, setting the stage for the absurdity that's to come on Oct. 17.

In the episode, titled "Franchise Prequel," the South Park gang dons their superhero costumes in order to cash-in on the superhero movie/TV craze brought on by Marvel (and followed up by DC). Their plans are thwarted by Butters and his spreading of horrible lies on Facebook — a classic comic book villain story.

Several things happen throughout the episode. The origin of Jimmy's Flash-esque alter ego, Fast Pass, is revealed. Mark Zuckerberg shows up and pretends to fight people. Butters correctlytates s that Suicide Squad sucked. Cartman drops a Harvey Weinstein joke. And Butters and Vladimir Putin get grounded by Butters's dad for spreading misinformation on Facebook.

The superhero gang then goes over their extensive plan (devised by Cartman) to make a lot of money off of a cross platform superhero franchise:

Not everyone agrees with it, though, and thus the kids split up and start their own Civil War-esque feud: Coon and Friends vs. the Freedom Pals.

The final scene pulls from the Fractured But Whole trailer from E3, which leads right into the plot of the game with the two opposing factions.

We'll have to wait and find out if Mark Zuckerberg or the Russian government play into the game itself next week.
