Eden Hazard sets new Champions League record with Chelsea

Eden Hazard has set a new Champions League record as Chelsea brushed aside FC Qarabag with a 4-0 victory.

The 26-year-old opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 21st minute before Willian doubled Chelsea’s lead with nine minutes of the first half remaining.

After the break, Cesc Fabregas converted Chelsea’s second penalty after another soft decision, while Willian completed his double with a fine effort to round of Chelsea’s win. With his latest goal for Chelsea, Hazard has now become the highest scoring Belgian player in Champions League history.

Hazard has scored eight goals in the competition, one more than both Dries Mertens and Wesley Sonck. Chelsea are now top of Group C but will be overtaken if Roma secure a win against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening.
