Old Pics Of 'Game Of Thrones' Star Jason Momoa Are Completely Unrecognisable

We've all got a past. For many of us it involves a dodgy hair cut from 2004 that keeps cropping up on Facebook, or an ill-judged ex that we'd rather forget about. For Game of Thrones' Jason Momoa, the past isn't anywhere near as embarrassing - but it's definitely surprising.

Before starring as the fierce Khal Drogo in GoT, Jason was not only decidedly less hairy, but also one of Hawaii's top models. After being discovered by international designer Takeo Kobayashi - who was the one that encouraged him to pursue a career as a model - Jason went on to be crowned Hawaii's Model of the Year in 1999. And here's how he looked...

When working in a local surf shop in Hawaii at 19, his pretty boy credentials well and truly peaked when he was scouted to star in Baywatch Hawaii - the franchise that's famous for its clean-cut, chiselled characters. Yeah, pretty much about as far as you can get from the absolute beast that is Khal Drogo.

He played headstrong Jason Ioane in the show between 1999 and 2001, before securing roles in North ShoreJohnson Family Vacation and Stargate: Atlantis.

As you can expect, people have been totally losing their shit over pre-Thrones Momoa.

It wasn't until later, of course, that he bulked right up and became Game of Thrones' Khal Drogo, warlord of the Dothraki, which won him ultimate man points, probably forever. He even reportedly won the role by performing the haka in his audition. Fuck's sake, stop showing us all up.

But Jason's past ain't all modelling and running in slow motion along the beach. He says the famous scar on his eyebrow was the result of a bar fight.

"I got called 'pretty boy' my whole life," he told the New York Post. "If anything, it's like, 'Good.' It's not my thing now."

That's not it, either, according to according to Hollywood.com. Before filming started on Conan the Barbarian, Jason told a mate the character would look better with a broken nose. So, without a second's thought, his pal decked him and broke his nose.

Definitely regretting calling him a pretty boy a few paragraphs ago now.
