Valencia captain Dani Parejo accepts that Lionel Messi’s goal should have counted following their 1-1 draw with Barcelona at Mestalla on Sunday.
Los Che went ahead with Rodrigo Moreno’s goal in the second half before Jordi Alba’s scored a stunner in the 82nd minute ensured that Barcelona got a draw out of the encounter.
However, the match was dominated by Messi's disallowed goal, and the Valencia captain Dani Parejo said: "It was a goal but the referees are people, sometimes they hurt you and sometimes they benefit you, today we benefited in that play, there was a lot of time left after that happened."
On the result, he added: "We have to be aware of who we are and where we come from, it's time to enjoy and that people enjoy. The behaviour of the fans was spectacular."
Meanwhile, Rodrigo also remarked: "I did not see the play if you say it's a goal ... The referees are there to make a mistake, from time to time it's in our favour and it's part of the game."
Valencia, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid remained unbeaten in the La Liga this season.
