Zinedine Zidane urges Real Madrid to hijack €100million Barcelona transfer

Zidane would hate to see Barca win this transfer battle.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has reportedly urged his club not to allow Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann to wind up sealing a transfer to their bitter rivals Barcelona.

The Frenchman is a big fan of Griezmann and would be keen to bring him to the Bernabeu as a possible replacement for the under-performing Karim Benzema, according to Diario Gol.

The report claims Barca are growing increasingly keen on recruiting the 26-year-old attacker as a possible cheap alternative to Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.

Still, Real could also do with strengthening up front in the near future, having also been linked with Tottenham front-man Harry Kane this season by Marca.

It is not yet clear what the future holds for Benzema as Zidane remains loyal to one of his favourite players, but it seems his slow start to this campaign in front of goal could yet cost him his place in the side.

Griezmann has shone for Atletico and surely looks ready to make the step up to a bigger club after achieving a fine scoring record in his last few seasons under Diego Simeone.

The France international has also been linked with Manchester United by ESPN, with various outlets claiming he’ll have a €100million (£89m) release clause by the time of next summer’s transfer window.
