Victor Moses wins player of the year award


Victor Moses has won the Nigeria Footballer of the Year for 2017 at the sixth edition of the Nigeria Sports Awards in Lagos.

Moses was voted the winner in that category, in the event which was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Friday night.

The Chelsea star beat NPFL stars Stephen Odey and Anthony Okpotu to the prestigious award after his exploits for both club and country in the year under review.

The 26-year-old forward was top scorer in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers with three goals as Nigeria qualified for a sixth World Cup in Russia.

He also won the Premier League title with Chelsea after new manager Antonio Conte revived his career at Stamford Bridge.

He has also been nominated for the CAF Footballer of the Year as well as the BBC African Player of the Year.

Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala scooped the women’s Footballer of the Year after she won the Chinese league and finished top scorer.
