Most lethal: Deontay Wilder has an astonishing record of 38 KO’s in 39 bouts and is yet to lose.
World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has warned World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion Anthony Joshua that he will prove to be the toughest opponent the 28-year-old has ever faced.
Joshua defended his heavyweight title against Carlos Takam on October 28, whereas Wilder outclassed Bermane Stiverne in the first week of November.
Since then, there have been talks between both camps for a unification bout sometime in 2018.
The 32-year-old Wilder, who has an astonishing record of 38 KO’s in 39 bouts and is yet to lose, while talking to ESPN's Sports Nation program, reveals his excitement for the fight and believes that if it will take place, it will be one of the biggest in the history of professional boxing.
"Joshua, let's make this fight happen man," said Wilder.
"This is one of the biggest, most exciting fight in the world history. We could make records, we could set history on the time of the fight whenever it happens. I'm ready.”
While talking about his potential opponent, Wilder sarcastically claimed that Joshua only fights with boxers from the lower level, and also believes that he has the ability to finish the career of the Watford-born boxer.
This is despite Joshua fighting Wladimir Klitschko earlier this year, who is deemed one of the best heavyweights ever.
“You've had it easy, it's been breezy for you,” he said.
“You're ready to fight low opposition and get paid millions of dollars and you don't want that gravy train to end, but I am the man that's going to end your career."
Joshua, who already has 20 bouts under his belt and is still undefeated in his four-year career, in an interview, reveals that he is looking forward to fighting Tyson Fury, Joseph Parker, and Wilder in the near future.
However, Parker’s camp, while talking to ESPN, claimed that the bout is looking highly unlikely after receiving a low offer for the event.
