Negan this, Negan that. Negan, Negan, Negan, Negan.
We need to have a serious chat about The Walking Dead...

As you probably know, The Walking Dead premiered in 2010. It's about the world after a zombie apocalypse. Everyone was into it.

FX
The show quickly became a huge hit, and had millions of viewers around the world. I, like many, considered myself a part of the fandom.
It was great! I watched it religiously. I loved it. I loved the characters. I loved the zombies. I loved everything about it. I was Rick Grimes in this GIF when the show aired each week.

But then... something happened. The spell wore off. Zombie night just wasn't what it used to be. I was more like Rick Grimes in this GIF when the show came on.

AMC
What was happening to me? I felt like I was drifting through each episode like some kind of, well, zombie. Had I become the Andrea of my own life?
But wait... is it me? Or is The Walking Dead to blame for this?

AMC
I did some extensive research (I searched around on Twitter for five minutes) and came to a conclusion...
THE PROBLEM WAS THE WALKING DEAD!

For starters, it has become... monotonous.

AMC
It used to be that a thousand different things would happen in each episode. Now 80% of each show is long, meandering conversations about nothing.
It's just become so predictable. My washing machine cycles have more variety than The Walking Dead now.

ABC
Boring episode, boring episode, boring episode, semi non-boring episode, boring episode, badass episode. That's it. See you next season. Repeat.
The walkers stopped being scary or a threat in any way.

AMC
I mean, I get it. They've been killing them for seven years. They're probably experts at it by now. But remember when they use to be scary? Remember when the threat of walkers actually meant something?
There are no stakes anymore. Nothing has any consequences.

And it's just Negan this, Negan that... Negan, Negan, Negan.

We get it. He's very mean and cruel, and mean, and cruel, and, and, and, and...
And speaking of characters, how do they expect us to have the energy to care about so many of them?

AMC
They add like 40 new characters every season! Even if I wanted to, I couldn't possible get attached to so many of them. And then they want me to care when they kill them all off over the next two seasons? Fine! Better than watching Rosita pout for another 10 episodes.
And everyone who is cool gets benched!

AMC
AMC: You guys like Daryl?
Us: Yeah!
AMC: We're going to lock him up for half a season.
Honestly, it just feels like the whole thing has gotten... lazy.

AMC
Do I even need to remind you about the whole fake deer ordeal? It looks like it's from the cover of an Animorphs book.
And now they're saying that they plan on keeping the show going through season twelve?!

AMC / Warner Picture
Four more years of this?! Are you sure?!
Learn when to say goodbye, AMC. Jeez.

If you won't, then I will. Bye, The Walking Dead! We're done.
