The European best forward has warned the rest of Europe that “the Champions League is Real Madrid’s tournament.”

Ronaldo marked his return to the Champions League with a brace during Madrid’s 3-0 win against APOEL on Wednesday, which took him up to 107 goals in the competition.

“It was a game we needed to win; we played at home and wanted to start the Champions League well,” the forward told UEFA.com after the game.

“I think the side were good; we know we were taking on a defensive outfit. We could’ve scored more, but in the end, it was a good result and we’ve started off well and we’re happy with that.

“I’m delighted to be back playing. This is a distinct competition and to start playing again and scoring goals is very important for me. I helped the side and feel good about that.

“There’s still a long way to go; let’s go game by game. First, we have the group stage then we can see.

“Of course, we want to win this tournament. The Champions League is Real Madrid’s competition and  want to win it.”

Real Madrid’s next opponent is Borussia Dortmund, The defending Champions will be up against the Die Borussen at the Westfalonstadion in Germany, while Tottenham Hotspur will make a trip to Cyprus to face Apoel Nicosia.
